About Me

SDC12911 copyThanks for visiting Dave’s Fish Tales. The good-looking fellow on the left is me, your humble scribe, Dave Burnham.

I’m glad you found my site and I hope you like it enough to come back again or maybe even drop me a line (oh dear) to tell me what you think or share your story with other readers. If there’s no other readers, you and I can chat over a beer or two.

It seems we have a few shared interests – the great outdoors, saltwater fishing and enjoying having a rod in our hands (behave, stop making up your own jokes) as often as possible.

“What was the inspiration for the site?” I hear you asking. I’m a freelance writer and photographer and I want to share my experiences of learning how to go saltwater fishing as an absolute beginner – be they good, bad or indifferent. I’ll do my best to inform and entertain along the way, but any fin is possible.

This fishing lark all started recently when my wife Kathy and I took a trip to the Connecticut shoreline for lunch, a walk on the beach and a spot of sightseeing. During the trip I became fascinated while watching a lone angler casting and retrieving.

That moment and the resulting good night’s sleep changed me, I was hooked. We’ve returned to the shoreline several times since and enjoy going back as often as we can.

Life isn’t all about working and being chained to a computer 24/7/365. Kathy’s been encouraging me to rest and relax more than I’ve been doing, so now I’m going to give it a try. Fishing’s a pastime that will help me relax and keep me off a computer (until I start writing journal entries…).

Please enjoy my not-so-serious ramblings about how I discovered the lure of saltwater fishing.

Welcome aboard,
Dave
